Shadow of the Real World

A few musings from Kansas by a high school literature teacher. Over the past few months, this blog has turned a commentary on media. I will probably continue to focus on film and television, but books and music might sneak in... By the way - If you would like me to post on a regular basis - please comment, even if it's just to say, "Hi." If my audience disappears, I lose the motivation to write! Thanks!

Web 2.0 ... The Machine is Us/ing Us

I love this video about the web and what is going on with it. It's complex and intriguing and unifying and dividing. It isolates us and brings us together. Where are we headed next? (I also love that a K-State prof named Michael Wesch put it together! Go Cats!) :-)

Link for Everyone

Hello All - I thought I'd introduce to you a delightful book that my roommates and I are reading out loud to each other. I haven't enjoyed a story this much in quite a while. It's a lovely story, full of humor and a quirky view of the world. If you like young adult fiction or stories about families, this one is for you. (It also won the National Book Award, which is rare for a comedic novel.) Enjoy the the story of "Four Sisters, Two Rabbits, and a Very Interesting Boy..."

This is for my brother!

Well - it's the Transformers...and for me - it's got Josh Duhamel. What more does a girl need? A good looking, funny guy and some really big vehicles that change shape...heaven. :-) :-)
